Capitol News Group, the DC-based media company responsible for Politico, needed help building a groundbreaking publication aimed at upending tech media. Our team set out to create a system that could help tell a story living at the intersection of politics, technology, and business—what would eventually become Protocol News.

I worked closely with the creative team to define the visual language, focusing on the development of typography and art direction. The resulting identity is designed to scale intuitively across platforms and reinforce ideals of rigor and indispensability, rooted in core geometries and complemented by rectilinear slabs. These opposing visual forces represent the nexus of disruption at which Protocol sits, creating a visual system that embodies the same ambitious nature as the publication.
